Fleeting Glimpses

Fleeting Glimpses is a series of charcoal portraits that capture the transient nature of human expression- those brief, unguarded moments where emotion flickers across a face before dissolving into memory. Through the raw, textured medium of charcoal, I explore the fragility of presence, the way light and shadow shape identity, and the quiet intensity of fleeting connections.

Each portrait is an act of observation and empathy, a study of the subtle shifts in gaze, posture, and atmosphere that define a person’s essence. Charcoal, with its capacity for both boldness and impermanence, mirrors the ephemeral quality of these encounters - smudged edges and delicate details coexist, suggesting the instability of perception.

This body of work invites viewers to linger in the space between recognition and mystery, to consider how we are seen and how we see others. Fleeting Glimpses is not just about faces rendered in black and white, but about the stories that pass through us, leaving only traces behind.
